7-11-23: T-minus 3 days to Wildlife in the Changing Andorran Pyrenees

I’m soon to be leaving for my trip to Andorra where I will be working with Bernat Claramunt-Lopez’s group as part of a citizen science expedition through Earthwatch.  We will be gathering data to answer questions on “how mountain communities are adapting to a changing environment (global warming) as well as increasing anthropic (human presence) pressures.”

My friend Candace (retired aerospace engineering professor) will also be participating on this trip with me, and the two of us Ph.D. ladies (👩‍🔬💪) will be joining 9 other volunteers as we learn about this mountain biome with several ecosystems, learn how to measure and record behaviors and signs of foundational stresses from animals, plants, and their interactions.

But first, Candace and I will spend a few days in Barcelona….to adjust to the time change…
